A landmark publication authored by historian Andreas Koch and commissioned by the Wehry Foundation.
I had the privilege to play an integral role in shaping the final design of this extensive work—celebrating more than 250 years of the Wehry family’s extraordinary legacy. This book doesn’t merely recount genealogical facts; it weaves vivid narratives of family legend, influential historical figures, and personal stories set against the backdrop of European and global history.

Spanning Germany, the Netherlands, France, and the Dutch East Indies, Trade Winds & Family Ties chronicles the rise of Geo. Wehry & Co, a leading trading and plantation management firm that flourished until the Japanese invasion of the Indonesian archipelago in 1941. It is a testament to resilience, vision, and the enduring ties forged by marriage, commerce, and generational stewardship. From Aachen’s textile mills and Istanbul’s financial circles to grand aristocratic estates across Europe, every page is a window into a remarkable network of people and events.
Although the book was produced as a private family edition and is not commercially available, the process reaffirmed my belief that well-crafted heritage publications can be powerful legacies—connecting generations, strengthening identity, and preserving untold stories.

If you are considering documenting your own family, institutional, or corporate history, I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can bring your project to life with the same level of research, design, and narrative depth. I’d be glad to share this project as a reference and, if helpful, introduce you to Andreas Koch to explore possibilities together.
Let’s connect to talk about your ideas. Heritage deserves to be documented with care, creativity, and respect—and I’d be excited to help you develop a book that honors your story.
